Adjustments of the spine – and the joints in extremities,
including the neck, shoulders, arms, hands, and legs – are sometimes
referred to as manipulations and are gentle, manual thrusts that
move the vertebrae or joint back to its normal position.
Chiropractic is an excellent, alternative healthcare option that
focuses on the body’s natural ability to correct and take care
of itself without surgery or prescription medication.
Chiropractors are the second largest providers of healthcare, second only to medical doctors, and share much of the same educational background and certification as medical doctors.
Chiropractic doctors and medical doctors often work together through patient referrals. Your medical doctor may recommend chiropractic if you do not need surgery or drugs – or as a conservative option before considering surgery.
A Chiropractor may refer you to medical specialists including
neurologists or radiologists, for example, to complement your
chiropractic treatment plan or when recommending lab work or
further testing.

More than six million
car accidents occur in America each year.
It
is estimated that there are about 3 million whiplash injuries per
year in the USA. A good percentage of
these whiplash victims will still have pain years after their
crashes.
What is Whiplash?
The term whiplash was used historically to describe the movement of
the neck during the injury phase of a crash. More recent research
shows that the movement of the neck is more complicated than the
motion of whip. The important thing to know is that the head and
neck of the injured person is accelerated 3 to 5 times faster than
the acceleration of the car. This sudden change in speed (about 1/10
of second) produces the damage to the structures (muscles, nerves,
ligaments, etc.) and causes neck pain and other problems.
What are the symptoms?
neck pain
headaches
jaw pain
shoulder pain
arm pain
hand pain
numbness and tingling
brain injuries (may show up as memory loss, irritability, insomnia, depression, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), concentration problems, etc.)
